The UBC Law Review invites the submission of articles, case comments, and book reviews, as well as recent legislation or law reform comments, which would be of interest to our diverse academic and professional audience. However, please be advised that articles will not be published until the late fall of 2007 or the winter of 2008.
Please note the following guidelines:
- Articles should not exceed 15,000 words (approximately 60 pages double-spaced).
- Case Comments should be between 4500 to 10,000 words.
- Book Reviews should be not more than 3500 words, and may be less.
- Recent Legislation or Law Reform Comments should be between 4,500 and 8,500 words.
- In addition to three photocopies of the manuscript, an electronic copy in Microsoft Word (2000 or later versions preferred) should accompany each submission. WordPerfect or RTF format is not.
- An abstract of not more than 250 words must accompany the manuscript.
- References must conform to the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (6th Edition) (the “McGill Guide”).
- Footnotes, numbered sequentially, are required; in-text citations are not acceptable. We require parallel citations for all cases. We also require neutral citations where available.
- The Canadian Oxford Dictionary is used as a reference for spelling and the New York Public Library Writer’s Guide to Style and Usage is used as a grammatical and stylistic reference.
- UBC Law Review does not accept simultaneous submissions.
As a refereed journal, all submissions are subject to review and no submission is guaranteed publication, including those that have been revised and resubmitted. Manuscripts will not be returned. The Editors reserve the right to make such editorial changes in manuscripts as are necessary to ensure correctness of grammar and spelling, clarification of obscurities, and conformity to style.
